These bottles, beads and sculptures are made in the torch with Italian effetre/moretti soft glass. I use enamels, fritts, powders and other glass techniques to texture and age the surface. An occasional splash of fine silver is also seen in some pieces. The copper wall mounts were designed for my pieces by metalsmith Corey Weiser at Weiser Studios here in Saint Louis. Having been interested in artifacts since my first archeological dig in Israel In the 80's, finding similar inspiration became a life long passion. I have since studied the antiquities of rome , the ruins of central america & Aboriginal art of Australia. Even the ancient art of placement , Feng Shui brought me to china to relish in it first hand . Now these influences are the inspiration for the design, texture and mood of the pieces. The cumulative affect of years devoted to the ancient art of others, partnered with my classical figure modeling training and contemporary studies. These pieces emerged as small treasures to be displayed as artifacts. I am presently Glass Department chair at The Craft Alliance where I teach and work with glass in all its forms.
